PUBLIC RESPONSE FROM SIX SEASONS RECOVERY : Our Commitment to Client Privacy, Care and Accurate Reporting

Published Responding to 7News

Our response

Six Seasons Recovery strongly rejects a number of the allegations presented in the latest 7NEWS report and believes the public deserves to understand the broader context.

At the same time, Six Seasons Recovery has a fundamental responsibility to protect the privacy and confidentiality of every person who accesses our services. Our clients come to us during some of the most vulnerable periods of their lives. Their personal circumstances, treatment history, medical information, conversations with staff and details of their recovery are private matters. We will not use a former client’s confidential information publicly simply to respond to allegations made in the media.

Our Commitment to Client Privacy

Six Seasons Recovery has always maintained that client confidentiality is not optional.

We do not believe that a former client’s private treatment records, medical circumstances or personal communications should become public simply because a media organisation is reporting on allegations.

For this reason, there are matters relating to individual clients that we cannot and will not discuss publicly, even when doing so might assist in defending ourselves.

This can sometimes create an unfortunate imbalance: allegations can be made publicly, while the organisation being accused may be unable to disclose the full underlying circumstances because doing so could compromise the very privacy obligations we take seriously.

Our decision not to disclose confidential client information should not be interpreted as an admission that allegations are accurate. It is a reflection of our commitment to client privacy.

The Contemporaneous Record Is Important

There is, however, information that can be discussed without compromising client confidentiality.

On 19 July 2025, Adair Dboqler contacted Danny Coyne directly following her time at Six Seasons Recovery.

In that email, she thanked Danny and stated that she had recommended Six Seasons Recovery to people looking for a mental health rehabilitation retreat.

Most significantly, she described the services she received from the Six Seasons support workers and facilitators as:

“amazing services”

This is materially different from some of the allegations now presented publicly.

We believe the public is entitled to ask why serious concerns now being described to the media were not raised with Six Seasons Recovery at the time.

If a client believes they have experienced inappropriate treatment, unsafe practices or inadequate support, we encourage them to tell us immediately so that the concern can be investigated and addressed.

Feedback from client

Our Responsibility Is to Support, Not Silence

Six Seasons Recovery does not expect clients to remain silent about their experiences. Quite the opposite. We welcome feedback — positive or negative — because feedback allows us to improve our services.

Where a client raises a genuine concern, our responsibility is to listen, investigate and take appropriate action.

What we cannot accept is the suggestion that the absence of a public response to allegations means that there was no support, no communication or no opportunity for concerns to be raised.

We Also Have a Duty of Care

Our commitment extends beyond privacy. Six Seasons Recovery is committed to providing clients with a safe, supportive and structured environment during their recovery.

Our approach involves support workers, facilitators and appropriate external professional support where required. We recognise that people entering rehabilitation can have complex and individual needs, and we take those responsibilities seriously.

We also recognise that recovery is highly personal. Not every client will have the same experience, and no organisation can guarantee that every person’s recovery journey will be straightforward.

That is precisely why communication between the client and the organisation is so important.

We Will Not Compromise Client Confidentiality to Win a Media Argument

There is a fundamental difference between defending an organisation and exposing a former client’s private life. Six Seasons Recovery chooses the former without compromising the latter.

We could provide additional information about individual circumstances, communications and treatment matters, but doing so could expose private information belonging to a former client.

We will not do that.

Our records will remain available to the appropriate authorities or legal representatives where required, and we are prepared to cooperate with any legitimate investigation.

A Request for Balanced Reporting

We respectfully ask that any reporting concerning Six Seasons Recovery distinguish between:

  • allegations and established facts;
  • retrospective accounts and contemporaneous records;
  • statements made to the media and communications made directly to the organisation at the time; and
  • information that can legally and ethically be disclosed and information that must remain confidential.

The July 2025 correspondence from Adair Ffdpukm is one example of why contemporaneous evidence should be considered when assessing later allegations.

Six Seasons Recovery remains committed to client safety, privacy, dignity, confidentiality and quality care.

We will continue to cooperate with appropriate authorities and provide relevant documentation where required.

Our commitment to protecting our clients does not end when they leave our facility. Their privacy remains important to us long after their residency has concluded.
